The Diary Corporation is a US-based technology company with headquarters in Arizona. Hamish MacDonald, The Diary Corporation’s CEO, closed the agency sales contract with TGAIA at their head office in Shibuya Ku, Tokyo on November 14, 2016. This new business solution enables advancements in healthcare medical nursing using The Diary CarePro to monitor patients at home. TGAIA will be the exclusive sales agent for The Diary in Japan.
Medical expenses in Japan exceeded 40 trillion Yen in 2014, and the Ministry of Health and Labor has estimated these expenses will increase to 60 trillion Yen by 2025. Diabetes, hypertension, and poor lifestyle habits contribute to 30% of overall health costs. Health services outside of the national health insurance scheme must address this issue with health-conscious education and higher levels of at-home care.
The Ministry of Health and Labor has also determined that comprehensive care systems in local regions with attendant at-home care will reduce medical costs. In order for this to be successful, there must be cooperation between the individual and their care manager. The Diary Corporation has built an advanced platform for at-home care, which is currently used in the United States.
TGAIA recognizes this mobile solution as a way to further business in the healthcare industry by specializing in support and education. Under the agreement, TGAIA will sell and support The Diary sales in Japan, and develop educational content for the platform with its collaborative partners SRJ Ltd. This progressive offering will be available for customers as a service to support quality of care improvements, and improve efficiency of care delivery between the individual and care manager. The Diary supports Personal Health Record (PHR) collection of data for individual users, utilizing smart phones. The Diary CarePro for Enterprise application then collects and displays The Diary PHR data safely in the Cloud for care managers to access. This improves the care manager’s ability to watch over senior citizens in nursing facilities, and other patients with various chronic illnesses.
Using The Diary CarePro, care managers can monitor health indicators after an individual has left the hospital, for improved diagnosis and treatment over time. The condition of individuals can also be monitored by family members, independent of location. The individual can also use voice dictation to input information on symptoms, vital signs, and feelings. The data is viewable in customizable graphs. This allows for the sharing of real-time data between the individual, family caregivers, and care manager.
Built into The Diary app are alerts and reminder settings that inform the individual about changes in important treatment plans, as well as daily tasks. The Diary is available on Apple’s iOS platform – iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch – making the system ideal for secure and easy communication between care manager and individuals.
